What To Expect From The Abdominoplasty Procedure?

A tummy tuck is an extensive procedure and your plastic surgeon will have to do a thorough inspection.  Abdominoplasty in New York is performed under general anesthesia and an incision is made along the lower abdomen. To access the entire abdomen area an incision is made that extends from hip bone to hip bone, so in case you are planning a tummy tuck then please consider the resulting scar. Although the scar is mostly hidden by your undergarment, it will be visible to an extent. Another incision is made around the belly button in case navel contouring is required or if the abdominal muscles need to be repositioned. Once the incision is made, your surgeon may use sutures to tighten the muscles and the skin and fat are pulled taut over the area and the excess is trimmed. The scar will fade over time, your surgeon may recommend scar creams. Whereas a mini tummy procedure is a less-invasive technique and it is typically advisable to patients who have a lesser degree of excess fat and skin. The incision is made along the lower abdomen and the excess skin is trimmed. A mini tummy tuck does not allow for belly button re-contouring. Your surgeon may recommend liposuction to remove additional fatty deposits. Recovery from abdominoplasty takes around two to four weeks, however, Dr. Shah recommends taking two week off from work. The final results from the procedure may take six months to one year. You will have to limit your activities like lifting heavy objects or exercising until your surgeon determines that the area has healed which typically takes three to four weeks. Like any other surgical procedure, a tummy tuck procedure may cause infection, bleeding, excessive scarring, and the risks of anesthesia are also present.
